We are so pleased to welcome our newest additions to Gamma Upsilon! Such a lovely new member class!

A letter from our CEO:

We are thrilled that you are interested in learning more about what it means to be a Theta at Miami! Kappa Alpha Theta was founded nationally in 1870 and became the first Greek-letter Fraternity for women. Our chapter, Gamma Upsilon, was established at Miami University in 1951 with the purpose of extending a lifelong opportunity for social, intellectual, and moral growth to women on our campus and Kappa Alpha Theta has been incredibly successful in doing so. Not only does our chapter interact with fellow members, but we maintain constant contact with our Advisory Board, local Alumnae Chapters, and dedicated district officers, who were initiated upon the same principles and values as Thetas everywhere. Kappa Alpha Theta is one of the few organizations with such an incredible, committed and extensive Alumnae experience, which is why we consider "Theta for a Lifetime" rather than just the four short years we spend in college. Our Alumnae chapters provide members with support, networking opportunities, and scholarships - reaching far beyond what normal clubs or social groups have to offer.

In our chapter, each semester is busy with a variety of enriching opportunities and activities. As a chapter, we show our support for both Miami University and Greek life by participating in campus wide philanthropic events. This year we will be hosting our annual “Basketbrawl” event that raises money for Theta’s National Philanthropy CASA. This year we will also be working as a chapter to showcase a new philanthropic event whose proceeds support The Theta Foundation. In addition to philanthropy, our chapter’s members are involved in over 100 academic, service, athletic and pre-profession groups on campus. Even with so much involvement, our members remember to put school first. Our chapter member’s work together to maintain one of the highest GPA’s amongst all sororities at Miami.

Although our chapter offers an extensive social calendar to maintain bonds with all sororities and fraternities, our main priority is the relationship among chapter members. Sisterhood is the bond we hold with one another. Lots of cherished memories come from the sisterhood events and times that we spend together as a chapter. With trips to places like ButterField Farms and time spent enjoying both pledge class and family dinners, our girls value the time they spend with their sisters. The memories we make together are the ones we hold near and dear to our hearts.

As CEO of the Gamma Upsilon chapter, it is hard for me to put into words how honored I am to represent such an amazing group of girls. Every member of Kappa Alpha Theta has something special about them. Ever since I became a member, I saw Kappa Alpha Theta as a giant group of role models. Every member has something about them that you would like to see in yourself one day.

I hope you enjoy exploring our website and learning just what it means to be a Theta at Miami University. To all of us it truly has been a life changing experience! As always, feel free to contact me by e-mail.

I always like to finish things off with a quote, and this one reminded me of Theta when I read it. “Of all the things that wisdom provides for living one’s entire life in happiness, the greatest by far is the possession of friendship” -Epicurus
